Post-Show Skin Care: How to Reset Your Face After Show Day
After the show, your face needs a reset. Show day asks a lot of it: full stage makeup, lashes and glue, hours under hot lights, and very little water. By the time you are back in your hotel room, your skin is ready for a fresh start. Here is a simple post-show skin care routine for that first night and the days after.
What Show Day Does to Your Face
Stage makeup is heavier than anything you wear day to day. It has to show up from the back of the room.
It stays on for hours. Prejudging in the morning, finals at night, and photos in between.
You cut your water going into the show. Your skin shows it.
Your eyes carry the lashes and the glue all day.
Post-Show Skin Care, Step by Step
1. Take your makeup off first. Be patient. Ease your lashes off, then wash with your regular face cleanser until your skin is clean. Do not scrub.
2. Polish. Use an enzyme polish and follow the directions on the jar. It is a gentle way to exfoliate without scrubbing your skin raw. Rinse it off well.
3. Mask. A face mask goes on after your shower, on clean, dry skin. Never in the shower. Leave it on for the time on the jar.
4. Moisturize. Finish with your moisturizer, morning and night.
5. Go easy for a few days. Follow the label on how often to polish and mask. More often is not better.
If you are too tired on show night, do step 1 before bed and save the rest for the morning. Clean skin is the part that cannot wait.
